The Unity Wall and Rock Bay Murals

Na’ Tsa’maht - The Unity Wall Mural

In 2013, I was a painter for phase 3 of Na' Tsa'maht, The Unity Wall Mural, which can be found on the Breakwater down at Ogden Point, here in Victoria.  For more information and some lovey photos and videos of that project, check out www.theunitywall.ca

Then in 2015, I was a team leader for the Rock Bay Mural which can be found on Government St. and Pembroke St. just North of downtown Victoria.  More information on that project can be found here.

Also, if you want to see much better pictures than mine of this project, taken by professional photographer Dean Kalyan of Kalyan Studios, check out these awesome photos here.  Dean Kalyan was the project coordinator for both of these mural projects.

These murals celebrate and honour the local Indigenous people here in Victoria, the Lkwungen, now known as the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations.  The Unity Wall Mural and the Rock Bay Mural were both designed by Darlene Gait from Esquimalt and Butch Dick from Songhees.  I want to thank and hold my hands up to both of them and the team of Indigenous youth I painted with on these projects for their incredible generosity and welcoming me as a guest on their traditional territory.  I am honoured I was able to represent your artwork in this way and make these stories more visible to the broader community.  Ahéhee' !
